My goal as your psychologist is to help you gain a deeper understanding of your emotions, build the courage to face challenges, and strengthen your relationship with yourself and those around you.
Meet Dr. Brittany Caulkins
After earning my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology - Los Angeles, I completed my predoctoral internship at the VA Medical Center in Sacramento. There I was trained in empirically based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to treat individuals with psychological distress associated with medical conditions, trauma, and mood disorders. I went on to complete my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo, treating patients with anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment issues, women’s health issues, relationship distress, and medical illnesses – mainly cancer.
At Kaiser, I developed a specialty in psycho-oncology, providing psychotherapy and support to individuals with cancer diagnoses and their loved ones. Treating oncology patients has become a strong passion of mine. Having dealt with cancer in some of my own family members, I have come to recognize the emotional and physical burdens that it can carry. In my practice, my focus has been to create a comforting and compassionate environment to help patients and their family members attain a sense of peace during such a trying time.
Through my experience working in medical settings, I have learned the importance of holistic care and focusing on the mind-body connection to promote comprehensive healing.
